San Chez Bistro's Mezze Cafe was a perfect setting for our Slow Food Potawatomi/ Tilling to Table dinner, overseen byChef Maria Cristina Rinaudi, who is visiting from the Piemonte region of Italy, and prepared by Tilling to Table volunteers. Chef Cristina chose traditional Piemonte dishes for the meal.
She started off with a very colourful salad of greens, black olives, pickled peppers, goat cheese and butternut squash chips.
Next was penne pasta served with a wonderful tomato and Crane Dance Farm mild Italian sausage ragu.

Creamy porcini mushroom risotto was next. For the main dish, we were served Creswick Farm braised beef in red wine sauce and accompanied by creamy polenta.

Dessert was a delicious caramel panna cotta topped with candied lemon peel. We had Piemonte wines to accompany our meal.

Chef Cristina was wonderful to watch and a pleasure to listen to and learn from. She runs the Ristorante le Torri in Piemonte with her husband Angelo - http://www.ristoranteletorri.it/ing/index.asp.

What a wonderful experience - for those behind the scenes and those who came to enjoy a delicious meal in a beautiful setting.

Grazie Chef!
