This past Friday was designated by Slow Food USA as Terra Madre Day. To celebrate this day our chapter combined it with our holiday party. So we enjoyed food brought by all who attended while we viewed pictures taken at Terra Madre by our four chapter delegates - Barbara Jenness, Amy Sherman, Jerry Adams and myself. We related our experiences and inspirations from Terra Madre - one relationship started at the conference was with two ladies from Gambia who looked to us for help in expanding their distribution of produce from farms in their area. Jerry and Amy pointed out that this would be a beneficial relationship to both parties - not just us helping them but that we would also be learning from them. A beneficial relationship for all of us.
This is just the first of many exciting projects that we hope to start in 2011.

The book we are reading is American Pie: Slices of Life (and Pie) from America's Back Roads by Pascale Le Draoulec. Our food theme is 'bring two: one to eat, one to give away' - either pie, cake, or cookies, savory or sweet.
