"The Gastronomical Me"

An engaging conversation was shared last night on my front porch with Brenda, Karen, Viola and Kay (as well as several small children!) concerning one of our new favorite writers, M.F.K. Fisher. "The Gastronomical Me" is part of Mary Frances' anthology "The Art of Eating", and is a memoir of her early childhood, young marriage and various adventures. Although her medium is food, she is really focused on life itself. When asked why she chose to write about food, she replied "when I write about hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and warmth, and the love of it....and then the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger satisfied". Our hunger for a good book was satisfied by this amazing woman!
